Known History

ORTAC was ordered in 1936 and completed in 1937 to the Robert Clark design. This combination resulted in a very successful racing yacht winning the 1937 Heligoland Race, being the first race she had entered. She was undoubtebly considered the boat of the year in 1937 and accumulated enough racing points to win the Trenchemer Cup for the individual points championship. Some of the photos displayed here were taken by Michael Morgan-Giles during the build and Michael was also one of the crew that deliverd the boat to Burnham-on-Crouch on her maiden voyage.

ORTAC had continued success and is still sailing today. She is currently for sale.
